2025 Team Canada Application Details

WKU World Canada has opened and begun accepting applications for athletes wishing to represent Team Canada at the 2025 WKU World Championships in Trier, Germany (October 2025) starting May 1st, 2025.

The application cost is $55.00 CAD.

This fee is charged per person, not per division. Applicants are granted one edit submission to correct any errors in the submitted application. Any further edits will be subject to a $25.00 administrative fee.

First selection results will begin to be released as early as June 7th, 2025.

WKU World Canada will continue to accept applications until August 12th, 2025.

How Selection Works

Due to the cancellation of the 2025 WKU Canadian National Championships, Team Canada will be selected by application and internal review.

Selections will be made based on merit, including the following:

  • Past accomplishments (regional, national, or international results)

  • Previous Team Canada positions

  • Years of competition experience

  • Discipline suitability (matching skill sets to divisions)

  • Technical and mental readiness

  • Coach recommendations (if applicable)

WKU Canada will assess all submissions to ensure the strongest team possible is assembled across each division.

Important Notes & Who is Applicable

Team spots will be filled on a rolling basis.
Selections begin as early as June 7th, and any applications submitted thereafter will be evaluated on a first come, first evaluated basis.

WKU operates its divisions with restrictions on style, gender, age, and weight (where applicable). Please ensure that the divisions you are seeking to partake in are operating this year before you apply. You can find a list of divisions that will be offered this year linked below.

2025 WKU World Championship Divisions

Other requirements:

  • Must be Canadian residents or citizens

  • Must have competitive experience in WKU-approved disciplines (e.g., point fighting, forms, kickboxing, etc.)

  • Athletes must have strong competitive records, work ethic, and coach endorsement

  • Must be an amateur competitor, no profesional fighters are permitted to compete

Note: Athletes that apply are not guaranteed a place on the team — all applicants are evaluated against team needs and performance standards.

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

The application fee is non-refundable, even if applicants are not selected for the team.

Successful Applicants

Competitors who are selected to represent Team Canada are expected to meet a high standard of conduct, preparation, and commitment. Selected athletes must maintain regular communication with WKU World Canada, respond to administrative requests in a timely manner, and meet all registration and payment deadlines for the WKU World Championships. Athletes are also expected to uphold professionalism on and off the competition floor, follow WKUWorld rules and codes of conduct, and represent Canada with integrity and sportsmanship at all times. Failure to comply with team requirements or behavioral standards may result in removal from the team.
